SUND VET DIAGNOSTIK is an important source of bacterial strains and inspiration for the research conducted at the Section of Veterinary Microbiology.

This is particularly true for the antimicrobial resistance & antibiosis research group led by Professor Luca Guardabassi, who has a special scientific interest in companion animals.

PROJECTS AND CORE RESEARCH AREAS

The research group has a wide range of projects running within antimicrobial resistance and typing of bacteria in companion animals. Insight into our research can be obtained by browsing our publication list.

Within the last few years our research has gradually focused more on combating antimicrobial resistance including new strategies to win the battle against multidrug resistant organisms.

Some of our aims are to optimize antimicrobial dosing regimes and discover alternatives to antibiotics, for example bacteriophages and synthetic peptoids.
