Online course: FELASA accredited course in laboratory animal science for EU Functions A/B/D

About the course
The course gives a practical and theoretical introduction to handling, housing and using laboratory animals and how to replace, refine and reduce the use of live animals for research.

The course is a function A/B/D course according to the EU Directive 2010/63/EU Article 23.2 (previously designated category C), accredited by the Federation of European Laboratory Animal Science Associations (FELASA).

After completing the course, the participant is qualified to acquire a personal license to independently plan, implement and take responsibility for the design and performance of animal experimentation within the European Union according to the EU Directive 2010/63/EU Article 23.2 and the Danish executive order 88 of 30/01/2013 §56.

The course adheres to the EU Directive 2010/63/EU and the more detailed learning outcomes described by EU's expert working group in 'A working document on the development of a common education and training framework to fulfill the requirements under the Directive'.

Supplementation of foreign courses with learning outcomes on Danish legislation
If you have already documented the fulfillment of the learning outcomes for function A/B/D outside Denmark, but therefore has not been introduced to the Danish national legislation, we can offer you a short course, as a supplement to function A/B/D courses according to the EU Directive 2010/63/EU Article 23.2 (previously designated category C). This is aimed at license holders and performers of animal experiments, who need to do animal experimentation in Denmark.

The course gives an introduction to the Danish national legislation on animal experimentation and where to find rules for doing animal experiments as well as handling and housing animals for such a purpose.

The link for the registration is the same as for the full ABD-course, but during registration you must choose ‘National Laboratory Animal Legislation – Denmark’

Course leaders
The course is organized by the Departments of Veterinary Disease Biology and Experimental Medicine, by Professor Axel Kornerup Hansen and Associate Professor Klas Abelson.
