In my research project I work with aquatic bacterial pathogens in Vietnamese catfish (Pangasius hypophthalmus) production; Aeromonas dhakensis, Aeromonas hydrophila and Edwardsiella ictaluri. Using microbroth dilution we have established minimum inhibitory concentration (MIC) values for the most commonly used antibiotics in the production. By whole genome sequencing selected strains we characterize the genotype of the pathogens in terms of antimicrobial resistance genes, virulence genes, mobile genetic elements and phylogeny.
