- My primary research spans the genomics of human pathogens that arise from animals and the aquatic environment. I also address questions related to climate change implications on disease transmission between humans and waterbodies such as cholera and other Vibrio infections. I moreover, conduct solutions-oriented research where I use advanced omics tools to test and measure the impact of different context-based interventions for the reduction of antimicrobial use and resistance in LMICs.
- As part of my teaching portfolio and higher education pedagogy, I use problem-based learning approaches within the research-based teaching format to teach Microbial Genomics, Bioinformatics in Microbiology, and One Health antimicrobial resistance surveillance.
