NORDFUGL 2026: "Exposure and Immunity"
On 2 October 2026, 30 participants from Denmark, Sweden, Norway, Finland, Iceland, the Faroe Islands and Germany joined the online NORDFUGL meeting to share updates on avian influenza across the Nordic region.
This year’s theme was “Exposure and Immunity”, and included updates on the AIV situation from all Nordic countries, as well as special invited presentations by Ulrich Knief on immunity in sandwich terns, Pär Söderquist on systematic wild-bird sampling in the SENTINEL project, Magnus Nygård Osnes on avian influenza research in Norway, Lauri Kainen on serological investigations in Finland, and Jana Jeglinski on avian influenza in northern gannets.
The webinar included lively discussions with information and experiences from across the Nordic countries and the Wadden Sea. The meeting also provided a useful opportunity to strengthen contacts and identify topics for future collaboration.
