Bringing Nordic mastitis researchers together in Copenhagen

On 24-25 August 2026, we hosted the 8th Seminar on Nordic Mastitis Research, welcoming researchers and veterinarians from across the Nordic countries for two days of scientific exchange and collaboration.

The seminar provided a platform for sharing the latest research on mastitis and udder health, with discussions spanning herd-level monitoring, sensor technologies, automatically collected data, and new approaches to improving dairy cow health and welfare. Participants presented a wide range of ongoing projects, creating valuable opportunities to learn about current developments and strengthen connections across the Nordic research community.

Hosted here at Frederiksberg, the meeting combined a strong scientific programme with ample opportunities for networking and discussion in an informal and welcoming setting. In addition to the scientific sessions, participants had the opportunity to visit the exhibition created by our colleagues: Production animals. A gallery for the art of the possible. The visit to the exhibition provided a unique complement to the seminar programme.

According to participant feedback, the seminar was characterized by excellent presentations, lively discussions, a great atmosphere, and even perfect summer weather.

The seminar was organized by Svenja Woudstra and Line Svennesen. As the Danish representatives of the organizing group of this network, we were pleased to welcome both long-standing collaborators and new faces to Copenhagen. The event once again demonstrated the strength of Nordic collaboration and the importance of bringing together researchers working to advance udder health.

We look forward to continuing this important networking at next year's seminar.
