Biomedicine Differentiation
The biomedicine differentiation provides students with essential competencies for working with biomedical research.
Focusing on the veterinarian’s role in biomedicine the course includes laboratory animal science (with EU-ABD license), experimental methods, and translational medicine with emphasis on animal models in drug development and disease research, while addressing ethical and societal aspects.
Areas include working with:
- Live experimental animals
- Experimental design
- Etiology of diseases and how these can be modelled
- Detection and visualization of pathology
- Diagnostic methodologies
- Principles of drug development
- In vivo pharmacology
- Toxicology in drug development
- Experimental surgery
- Evaluation of data
The course is organized in modules that targets different areas and expands on previously learned competencies. The course includes lecturers from both UCPH and external contributors, practical and theoretical exercises, case work, student presentations and various additional activities.
