Annual bird trip to South Zealand

In late April 2025, the Avian Influenza Epidemiology Group went on a trip to South Zealand to improve our understanding of the real world.

We visited a hobby chicken farm on Stevns, discussing general maintenance and behavior, and the interface with wildlife. After that, we visited Avnø Naturcenter, where we had presentations from the guides, followed by a guided tour to explore water birds, including barnacle geese, and many duck species.

We were also fortunate to see a white-tailed eagle and the seal colony at Avnø.
