On 11 to 15 November 2024, Helene Ane Jensen, Yangfan Liu, Lene Jung Kjær and Carsten Kirkeby attended the 17th International Symposium on Veterinary Epidemiology and Economics, ISVEE17, in Sydney, Australia.

Helene Ane Jensen presented her research on “Risk factors for introduction of highly pathogenic avian influenza into farms with poultry and other captive birds in Denmark”. Carsten Kirkeby presented the study “Comparative analysis of avian influenza outbreak dynamics in poultry simulating species and subtype”. Yangfan Liu presented “A stochastic agent-based model for highly pathogenic avian influenza spread in Danish wild birds, 2020-2021”, and Lene Jung Kjær presented her work “A model for forecasting highly pathogenic avian influenza in Europe”.

Besides the presentations, the group participated in research collaborations with University of Sydney, Aarhus University, and the Technical University of Denmark, disseminated through posters and presentations during ISVEE17.

Our group proudly represented the University of Copenhagen at ISVEE17, and left the conference with impressions from the numerous presentations, a lot of new connections to colleagues around the world, and a wonderful experience of the great ISVEE17 event and the city of Sydney.
