Tariq Halasa was educated as a Veterinarian and holds an MSc and PhD in Veterinary Epidemiology and Economics from Utrecht University. His research focuses on studying the spread and control of infectious diseases in bothe the Veterinary and (recently) human medicine fields. In addition, he works as well with antibiotics resistance.
In the veterinary field, Tariq works with different diseases mainly mastitis, African swine fever and foot-and-mouth disease. In the human medicine field, Tariq works with spread and control of COVID-19 as well as the spread of resistant bacteria between hospitals.
Tariq has led several research projects as well as work packages. He has also been involved in several research projects both on the national and international levels.
Tariq has close collaboration with both the national veterinary health authorities and industry. He works closely with the veterinary authorities on contingency planning and provides research based advise to the authorities. He also works with the cattle and swine industry in Denmark. He also works with a private company, namely FOSS Analytical A/S. He also works with Staten Serum Institut (SSI) in relation to Human health.
Tariq has funding from different organisations including GUDP, MAF, Ministry of Food and Environment and SSI.
