Program description

The overall aim of the Graduate Program 'Veterinary and Animal Sciences" is to foster a good academic and social environment among our PhD students across disciplines”. 

The Graduate Program 'Veterinary and Animal Sciences" include PhD students within a variety of disciplines:

  • aspects of occurrence, distribution, therapy and prophylaxis of diseases
  • population medicine
  • veterinary public health
  • disease monitoring
  • outbreak investigations on herd and national level
  • zoonotic infections and antimicrobial resistance
  • disease models and trials
  • diagnostic test assessments pharmaco-epidemiology, ethology
  • animal welfare
  • bioethics
  • productivity management
  • feeding
  • emission control
  • information and communication technology
  • surveillance systems
  • utilisation of data from national databases 

The Graduate Program Veterinary and Animal Sciences supports PhD students around their PhD projects with a variety of courses and seminars with networking and social activities. 

Since we are a Graduate Program with a broad range of scientific disciplines, we focus on hosting generic courses such as Presentation techniques, Scientific writing, Funding application, Stress handling, Project management, Career planning etc. 

Both Johannes Gulmann Madsen and Inge Larsen are available for confidential advice and guidance for PhD students (the non-scientific part) and help facilitate the contact to the Graduate School.
