An experiment was run to study the chemical composition and dry matter digestibility of Cynodon nlemfuensis, Panicum maximum and Brachiaria brizantha. The samples were obtained by using three esophageal fistulated cows in two experimental periods during the rainy season of 2006. Forage samples were analyzed for chemical composition (DM, CP, EE, MM, lignin, NDF e ADF) and dry matter digestibility (DMD). Pasture was managed in a rotational grazing system with three days grazing period and 30 days rest period. There were two replication units per treatment, crossbred Holstein x Zebu cows were used. Pasture was fertilized with 1000 kg/ha/year of 20:05:20. In the conditions of this experiment, the chemical-bromatological composition of the species studied were similar. However, the star grass presented DMD smaller to the other grasses.
